• Black And White Hospitality Wins Major Entrepreneurial Business Award

Black and White Hospitality one of the UK’s fastest-growing hospitality businesses, has scooped a top national business award whose main sponsor is the world’s largest online retailer.

The business – which owns the franchise rights to eight Marco Pierre White concepts – has now been presented with the Franchise Business of the Year Award in the Amazon Scale-Up Business Awards.

Organised by Business Leader magazine, the awards, which celebrates business and entrepreneurship, received over 400 entries from businesses located from all four corners of the UK.

The team of judges which included a cross-section of 19 entrepreneurial pioneers and business leaders included Piers Linney (Ex-Dragons’ Den star and investor), Jackie Fast (Apprentice star and businesswoman), Caprice (model and businesswoman) and Irene Graham OBE (CEO of ScaleUp Institute).

Each carried out their own independent due diligence when poring over the entries, giving each entry their own score and meant each winner has won their respective category completely on merit.

Event founder Andrew Scott comments: “These awards are all about celebrating the UK’s fastest-growing businesses – not those with the biggest PR budgets but the companies that are achieving year-on-year growth – that are employing people, creating wealth and making things happen. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.”

Approaching its 50th venue in the UK, Black and White Hospitality was founded in 2013 by its Chairman and CEO, Nick Taplin and Marco Pierre White. Acting as a master franchisor to the famed chef, the business has also opened its first two international restaurants in Abu Dhabi following the launch of Black and White International with plans to open more venues already in the pipeline.

Nick said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Black and White Hospitality and I’d like to thank everyone involved within the business. It’s been an incredible journey from the time we opened our first venue and there is definitely an appetite from hotel and property owners and investors to maximise revenue by aligning themselves with one of the world’s greatest chefs.

“To say that the last few months have been a little challenging would be a bit of an understatement, however because of our set up and the outstanding team we’re all ready to come out of this pandemic at a sprint.

“Even in the current lockdown situation, we have been able to sign up two new venues in Swansea and Salisbury which will be opening later in the summer. We also have a steady pipeline of new enquiries so our franchise model of positioning restaurants that are affiliated to arguably the UK’s greatest ever chef is one that is clearly working.

“Fifty restaurants was always our target and we will now be working harder than ever to secure more venues. Who knows, one day we’ll be able to announce the opening of our hundredth venue across the whole world!”

“It is quite incredible to have achieved all of this from an office in North Somerset. We have never forgotten our roots and will always remember where we all started. I would personally like to thank Andrew Scott and Amazon UK for all of their interest and support to our business.”
