• 43 Years A Chef

43 years ago a young Marco Pierre White was instructed by his dad to go and search for work in Harrogate because it was less than 10 miles away from his home and crammed with hotels.

So one morning in March 1978, sandwiches in hand, he caught the bus for the famous Yorkshire spa town. Once there he went to the Hotel St George and knocked on the kitchen door.

‘I’m looking for a job as a kitchen apprentice’, said the young Marco to the head chef and that was it! He was given a start date of Monday 20 March 1978 and so began the journey to become one of the greatest chefs of all time!

To commemorate the occasion, we’ve teamed up with BBC Maestro to offer a 43 per cent discount on Marco’s cooking courses on this new, e-learning service that offers never before access to the minds of some of the world’s greatest creative talents.

Fans will be able to enjoy over 30 online lessons where Marco reveals some of the skills that made him the first British and youngest chef (at the time) to attain three Michelin stars and allow aspiring cooks to indulge in their passion for food from the comfort of their own home.
